I found a Russian newspaper mentioned in the New York Times Dec 4th, 2007 article by
Adi Ignatius, A Tsar is Born
The editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta is Dmitri Muratov.
We can slam Russia for its suppression of the press, but we can also read
what they have to say.
The article talks about the unsanctioned movement of Russian
artillery into Georgia
Conditions and order of declaration of war and use of the army force are regulated by the national legislation and the international law. However, Russia has failed to provide for “legal grounds” for her militaries and citizen soldiers fighting against Georgia, on the national and international level.
Do read the entire thing. I'd expect that you
might even be surprised. I was.
